• The Wow Starts Now! - Horrible marketing campaign by Microsoft for Windows Vista. This was the only TV campaign to my knowledge this year and from the looks of it, it didn’t work.
• MacBreak Weekly Ukulele OutTake - Enough said. Listen to the clip.
• I got a mac.
• The Pains of Vista - The comic illustrates the point quite effectively. Vista is painful. 12 months after release and it is still very painful to the point that I have not installed it yet.
• My Collection of Videos - These feature a few videos that I have made. I still havn’t had time to handle the Farming footage but it’s up, just nothing special to it. I’ll probably wait until the next set of 99’s is done
• The RSBandB Goal Signature and Signature Engine Overhaul - This was a major upgrade on RSBandB this year. It allowed for easier creation of goal signatures. The goal sigs are great, thanks to the design work of Mushroom Queen.
• The Formalization of Project Green - Project Green was the goal for raising my Farming to 99. It was a long extensive project but it was never a matter of if… but more so when.
• First Release of RuneWire. - RuneWire will be having another feature release soon. More to come i the new year.
• 99 Farming Achieved - After 2 years, 2 months, and 12 days I finally reached 99 Farming.
• Telescopes Find Signs of an Earth-like planet 20 light years away
• Apple Constantly Came Out With New Mac vs. PC ads.
• And finally… Jagex kills RWIT and The Wilderness

I was in a video last night on Runescape. The guy said he was filming so I just jumped in. The guy was nice enough to credit me.

Quality is a bit low… but oh well.

This is the annual Christmas eve post that we’ve all come to expect! Basically I’ve got a few gifts for you all today:

First off is a new desktop that I have recently set. It’s a nice wintery theme, should do me until February.

Second of all is a Chirstmas comic that’s pretty much how most people I know are:

This is a comic from xkcd. I got a good laugh out of it.

Finally a video I came across a couple weeks ago of a made up Apple commercial with the Old Navy style. Most people I showed it to did not see why it was funny but for some reason when I watched it I got a good laugh out of it. You can view the movie here and a bit more of an explanation at gizmodo.

Anyways there’s your Christmas Daily Bits Everyone have a nice Christmas Eve and wonderful Christmas day! I’m off to a family gathering in little over an hour

This one’s my favourite. It’s a real slam against Bill Gates… although it is true. Pretty much everyone I talk to (advanced users mind you) are sticking with XP. Most people I know getting Vista are getting it with a new PC…

Some background info:
Stephane Dion: Liberal leader, elected last December as leader of the federal Liberal party of Canada. Can’t speak proper English.
GST: Goods and Services tax. Instituted originally at 7%, right now 6% going down to 5% January 1.

I find these ads enjoyable seeing as the Conservatives feel the need to put these kind of ads out. The Conservatives have a minority government right now which means that with every vote there’s a chance of the government being taken down. I suspect the point of the ad is to raise awareness that taxes will go up if a Liberal government were to get elected, this is probably true.

Anyways I got a good laugh out of that

A student by the name of Nick Haley created the latest iPod Touch Ad for TV use.

The idea that you do not have to be a professional to create a good commercial is becoming widespread, in a trend known as consumer-generated content.

Well for some of you Star Trek is utterly painful. I just want to illustrate here that it could have been much much worse on Star Trek Voyager. The story is that they originally had picked someone else to play the role of Captain Janeway. I can even say that watching Voyager with Captain Bujold would have been painful

She just seems too old, unpleasant, and simply does not have enough energy for the role. Here’s what the final version of Janeway turned out to be.

For those of you who do not want to watch Voyager, skip to 8:45.

Lets just say the executive producers made the right choice… I just wanted to show this to everyone since it’s something not commonly known.

“An animated tribute to the internet people of the world, wherever you may be.” Basically it goes through all of the known and famous web 2.0 people and internet people in general. Some of the mentioned people were Weird Al, Numa Numa, Leory Jenkins, and Ask a Ninja.

Definately worth watching.

Well a break from games for once. I saw this commercial on TV a few days ago and thought it was quite funny. I’m not sure if it’s anywhere else in the world or just Canada… but anyways here it is.

Also I’d like to send a shout out to various blogs out there who think it’s cute to create media themed days using alliteration. In case you’re not sure I’m referring to Media Monday and Funny Friday. I’m sure this trend started somewhere… but anyways more so on the first one it would have been nice to have a link saying that you were at least at the very minimal inspired by this feature at The Daily Bits.

Well before I start I don’t want anyone jumping to conclusions on this one. It is flashy friday and I believe I once said that I said I can do Google/Youtube flash videos for Flashy Friday. So this day September 8, 2006 is the 40th anniversary of Star Trek. It started at 8:30 PM on Thursday September 8, 1966. Anyways I have a youtube tribute to the 40 years showing most of the common things that any person who has watched it will remember.

Well today I thought I’d finally post the video project I have been working on. Here’s a quote from what I wrote on the rsbandb forums.

Well before you jump to any conclusions as to the title let me give you all some background information. There’s a bank in Canada called CapitalOne they have commercials on the TV about how they are not a bank that has their “hands in your pockets.”

So basically what I did is I took the idea from the commercial and made a parody of it on Runescape using the thieving skill. It involved pickpocketing all the monsters I could at my level. (Current level is 65)
