Up and Running

July 29th, 2007

After quite a few hours of tinkering and diagnostics I was able to figure out that my OS drive was failing. Not to worry though. As of writing this Windows XP is installed and running at full speed. Right now I’m just waiting for the files for episode 110 to be transferred over for editing. The show should be out tonight.

There we go. File transfer done :P

XP Slowdown

July 28th, 2007

Today I wake up with the intention of listening to “The Tech Guy” radio show. However upon turning the screen on I notice that the hard drive activity light is on with a constant glow. I lock my computer down each night using Win + L. There was no response here, so as usual I decide to reboot. The thing takes 10 minutes to reboot! I’ve tried all the usual things (safe mode, last known good config, system restore) and nothing seems to be able to fix this.

Everything is slow. Opening applications, the start menu, system preferences etc… Any other day this might be interesting but today I have to edit up RSBANDBUpdate! 110. So lets just say this one might be delayed :( Sorry folks.

Edit: This is why I got a mac.

MX518: A Gaming Mouse?

January 21st, 2007

In the past 13 months or so I’ve been a user of the Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse. As of yesterday I’ve gone through two of them. The left button fails miserably, right now mine’s only working about 40% of the time, which makes it really annoying for dragging and selecting windows. This appears to have been backed up by many people at Amazon.

I burned through 2 of these MX518’s, the first one I bought and the replacement the company sent. It took about three months apiece. They work great to start but if you have anything but a soft touch they can’t take it. And I don’t mean abuse-Just serious use. If you advertise yourself as a GAMING mouse…HELLO-you’d better be able to handle serious gaming. I’m not even going to go through the hassle of trying to get ANOTHER replacement. If I had it to do all over again I’d start with another brand!

I do click rather hard I think, especially after some CSS rounds ;)

And another…

I purchased my first mx518 about 7 months ago. Did awsome, pwned some noobs in cs:s and what not. Great for photoshop and other programs. Couldn’t get over the fact that it had adjustable sensitivity on the fly. However, about 3.5 months after i had the mouse, the left mouse button began failing. Opened the mouse up and there is of course a sensor there. Looked online to see if i could find a replacement and had no luck. I went and purchased another one of these thinking i would have better luck. Had it for a month and a half and, dun dun dun, same problem on the second mouse. No problems w/ my 3 year old wireless mouse that is part of the mx duo lol.

This was just on the first page…

So now I guess the counter strike accuracy will fall and I’m downgraded to using the middle button on Runescape in order to be guaranteed a click. All in all don’t get this if you’re a heavier clicker than other people.

Oh yea, the edges of the Logitech logo have started to wear off on mine. Finally for the next mouse I’m thinking of the Microsoft Habu.
